Sanibel Island: Dixie Beach Boulevard
Contrary to its name, this road does not lead to beach
access, but it will take you from Periwinkle to the Bay side of the
island. The bike path ends at Albatross, but you can easily continue on
Dixie Beach to the Bay, and then you can follow the gravel road through an
exclusive residential area until it ends near Tarpon Bay.
Only the bike path section, through Albatross,
is highlighted by the purple line in the map below.
The section with bike trail is residential, while the part without a bike path is
residential to the east and nature preserve to the west.
Some distances, in miles:
From Albatross at Dixie Beach Blvd, you could head east
through residential neighborhoods with large homes, to a path that ends at the
Visitors' Center on Causeway Road. Heading east from Dixie Beach, just follow
the Evacuation Route signs, which will take you along Albatross and Sandcastle
Road, to Bailey Road where you'll see the short path to the Island
